Secord Monument Draws Discussion Among Kincardine Councillors

Kincardine Council has chosen to work with a consultant to figure out how best to deal with the Secord monument, which was moved from its home on Queen Street during the Downtown Dig.... The report from staff says that the rationale for bringing in a consultant is to manage the process “in a positive manner.” The monument was erected in memory of Dr. Solomon Secord, who was a descendant of Canadian War of 1812 heroine Laura Secord....

Huron-Kinloss Approves 2023-33 Strategic Plan

Huron-Kinloss council has given approval of the final draft of the 2023-33 strategic plan. The plan dubbed Blueprint for our Future includes a new vision statement with a set of principles and areas of the most importance in the community. Guiding principles for the townships values over the next 10 years include being open and transparent, accountability, inclusive and welcoming, organizational excellence and kindness....

Harmony Centre Part of New Investment Program with Community Foundation
01/31/2024 Owen Sound’s Harmony Centre has been the beneficiary of a new investment program with the Community Foundation of Grey-Bruce. Under the new program, the Community Foundation will assume the Harmony Centre’s privately held mortgage and set the interest rate below market rates and in exchange, the centre will operate as a social enterprise to benefit the public by offering a non profit hub for local performers, artists and community groups....
