1199 Closures of Vital Hospital Services in 2023 says OHC

Given the number of emergency department closures across the area, the Ontario Health Coalition is calling on the Ford government to take action. This year alone has seen 1199 closures of vital hospital services, 868 of them being emergency department closures up to November 24th which is been a loss of 31,055 hours of care to communities. Locally this has been felt greatly at the Seaforth hospital with 17 closures, 20 in Walkerton and 31 in Wingham and Chesley Furthermore the Clinton ED has been closed daily from 6pm-8am since December of 2019. A growing number of local hospitals are at risk of permanently losing services....

Bruce Power Join Net Zero Nuclear Industry Pledge

Bruce Power has signed a Net Zero Nuclear Industry Pledge after landing in Dubai for a declaration with 20 other countries to triple global nuclear generation capacity by 2050. The pledge was launched in coordination with the Ministerial Declaration in which signatory countries commit to work to advance a goal of tripling nuclear capacity by 2050 and call to action during the World Climate Action Summit of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change....

HPPH Wingham Site to Close

Huron Perth Public Health will be closing its Wingham site as of January 1st. In a release, public health says this closure will affect sexual health services and immunizations in Wingham. This comes following Novembers announcement of a budget shortfall for public health leading to a restructure and a 10 per cent reduction in staff including public health nurses, dietitian, program manager and more....

Grey Bruce Board Of Health Working Towards Formal Agreements With First Nation Communities

The Grey Bruce Board of Health is working toward having formal agreements with Indigenous communities.... Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Arra said they were proposing entering into an agreement, citing the Ontario Health Protection and Promotion Act (1990).... which outlines where a board of health or health unit and the council on a reserve would enter into an agreement in writing. In doing so, the health board agrees to provide health programs and services to band members, and the council of the band would agree to accept the responsibilities of the council....

Brown Subdivision Work Begins in Kincardine

Construction has begun for a new subdivision in Kincardine. Better known as the Brown Subdivision the development along Highway 21 and Bruce Avenue will include 46 single family lots, two blocks with medium density housing and two apartment blocks. Installation of a new watermain to service the area will see a temporary closure of Bruce Avenue which will last until December 15th....
