Kincardine council has approved a draft budget for 2024.. Council deliberated Monday about what will and won’t be a part of the capital budget for this year....  The draft budget that was approved during Monday’s special council meeting will see a tax rate increase of 6.42%, with a blended tax rate that includes estimates for education and county taxes of 5.5%.....

Saugeen Shores & Habitat For Humanity Consider Housing Ideas

Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce says it’s keenly interested in Saugeen Shores intent to make surplus land available for affordable housing. In a presentation to councillors Monday, Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce Executive Director Greg Fryer said they intend to submit housing development proposals to the Town. The organization says, on large properties it is prepared to propose a partnership with the Town and a private builder or developer to scale up development....

Bruce County Museum Marking Black History Month

The Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre is celebrating Black History Month in February with an afternoon of presentations and discussion on Black history. On February 3rd from 1-3pm the museum will welcome guest speaks with attendees also hearing untold stories of early Black settlement in Bruce County. The stories will include the contributions, challenges and triumphs of Black residents who have played a significant role in shaping the community’s heritage....
