| Canadian Media Companies ask for Meta’s Blocking of News to Be Investigated 08/08/2023 The Canadian Association of Broadcasters, News Media Canada and the CBC issued in a joint statement saying they have filed an urgent request to have Meta’s abuse of its dominant position investigated. The company announced it would begin blocking news content from its platforms (of which it owners both Facebook and Instagram) as a result of Canada’s new Online News Act (Bill C-18)....The three organizations argue the actions are a violation of the Competition Act.... | Bruce County Reports Increased Demands For Housing In Most Recent Report 08/08/2023 Bruce County Human Services says .... the number of applicants as of June 30th of this year was 1093, up from 843 at the same time in 2022. The largest increase was for the number of applications for rent-geared-to-income housing, which increased by 32%, from 790 applications in 2022 to 1046 in 2023.
